Today’s interaction was on “THE FUTURE AT FIVE”. Many of us remember being asked at a young age what we wanted to be when we grew up. What answer did we give and why we give that answer? What shaped our ideas about the working world?

Children’s understanding of which jobs are available is often influenced by what they see the adults in their lives doing, which in turn influences their choices and motivation in school…Many five year old says about what they want to be when they grow up, leading to imbalanced gender representation in certain fields later on in schooling – an later on in life.

With this love of interacting with the community, hearing their stories, and learning from their experiences, our first guest on COLLOQUIUM was Ms. Kajal Chhatija. She is the Founder Director, EduDrone – We Connect, Executive Director of Gayatri English Medium School, Moshi.

She told the importance of every child’s identity as an individual. And in this era the children are the best imitators. They play their own role by observing the adult. Parents should be the best role model.

Our second guest was from Macedonia. Ms Sandra Grujevska, Career Counselor & Business Council Officer at University American College Skopje. She explained the related topics with her life story, from an English teacher to transform herself in an entrepreneur, as she started her own school. She encouraged girls to do work of her choice. She helps boys who have some skills, she helps them to become what they want to be.

Our next guest was Mr Jasmit S Arora, CEO- Chief Executive Officer at Black Keyboard Softwares Pvt Ltd. He very well described the difference of mind between the male and female. He also explained the importance of the mindset of the parents.

The next guest was Ms Farahana Haque from Brunei Darussalam. She beautifully explained the parents child relationship and she focused on the role of the parents. Because a child psychology says, they seeks every kind of emotional and mental growth from their parents.

The next guest was Ms Alesa Durgaryan from Armenia. She discussed about the stereo type mentality of the society, where we consider a boy as the head of the family. Whereas, the female doesn’t get the preference. And the selection of career depends upon the guide or the mentor, not upon the choice of the kids.

Our next guest was Ms Rashida Adil from Sharjah (UAE). She explained the role of parent while selecting career. She said, this is not the time where you can force your children to select your choice. As a parent, it is needed to know your children.

Our next guest was Ms. Magy Ali Hijazi from Lebanon. She explained how the gender stereotypes affect the 5 yrs kids. She said, there must be a holistic approach to select a career for the boys and girls. Life should be general to both. She said, everything starts from the home, so a parent can prepare their kid’s for the future ready, not for the chance ready only.
