An official claimed that a Christian organization objected to the title of a book authored by actress Kareena Kapoor and filed a police complaint against her and two others in Beed, Maharashtra, on Wednesday, accusing them of hurting the religious sensibilities of the community.
Ashish Shinde, president of the Alpha Omega Christian Mahasangh, filed the complaint at the Shivaji Nagar Police Station in Beed over the book, a second author. Shinde’s lawsuit mentions the title of the book, ‘Pregnancy Bible,’ written by Kareena Kapoor and Aditi Shah Bhimjani and published by Juggernaut Books.
The sacred term ‘Bible’ was used in the book’s title, which he claims has offended Christian religious feelings. Shinde has requested that a case be registered against the actress and the two others under IPC section 295-A (deliberate and malicious conduct intended to offend the sensibilities of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs).
A police spokesperson verified receiving the report but stated that no FIR was filed. Inspector Sainath Thombre, in charge of the Shivaji Nagar Police Station, said, “We got the report, but no case can be filed because the incident did not occur here (in Beed). I suggested that he make a case in Mumbai.” Kareena’s book was released on July 9th. In February of this year, the 40-year-old actress, who gave birth to her second kid, referred to it as her third child and published a series of posts on social media to promote the book.
According to the actress, the book is a firsthand account of what she went through physically and mentally during both of her pregnancies. Meanwhile, she will be seen in the next film ‘Laal Singh Chaddha,’ which co-stars Aamir Khan in the lead role.
