Kolkata, September 2021: Kolkata’s favourite Gastropub, Monkey Bar (a part of the Olive Group of restaurants), turns ‘Five’ and you’re invited to the High Five Party! It’s time for big celebrations and we’ve lined up five times the fun for everyone in the City of Joy. Get ready for some non-stop shenanigans to celebrate 5 years of monkeying around with special birthday events, parties and giveaways, which not only promise to bring the roof down but guarantees you one incredible week of fun! Picking up the best of our Monkey business, we are curating five days filled with #onekmoja at #HighFiveatMonkey.
Keep your vocal exercises handy as we kick-off the celebrations with Do-Re-Mi-Five – Karaoke Night on Wednesday, September 8th. If you can’t win some – you can certainly drink some at our 5 Down & Drinking – Games Night on Thursday, September 9th. In the mood to party? Join us for the classic Friday Night Fiver – to channel in the disco fever with Rwikraj spinning his magic at the console on Friday, September 10. Who doesn’t love that amazing view of Kolkata from Monkey Bar? We’ve planned a truly memorable Saturday Sundowner – It’s 5 o’ Clock Somewhere that promises to stop that clock at 5 pm, somewhere, everywhere on Saturday, September 11th. We’ve saved the best for the last.
To top all the parties, we’ve planned the High Five All Day on Sunday, September 12; with special offers that celebrate everything 5, in number and spirit. No birthday is complete without cake, and we have a slice of our delicious, chocolaty and decadent Monkey Five Layer Birthday Cake for lucky guests on Sunday. We salute the ‘pub’ in gastropub and as a celebratory tribute to your unwavering love – we present Gin & Daarun – a limited edition specialty cocktail available only for the duration of our Birthday week made with fresh oranges, celery, jasmine tea, lime juice, celery salt and topped with gin. And since we’re ‘bonding’ over drinks – we thought its best shaken, not stirred. So come hungry, come thirsty but above all come Monkey. P.S: No gifts please, but we will expect a high-five!!
We’ve also lined up all our amazing gastro-pub food, heady cocktails for you through the celebrations. Choose from a selection of small plates including Butterfly Veg – Crispy Paneer & Cheese tossed Black Bean Sauce & Peppers; stuffed in our signature butterfly shells, Chilli Cheese – Cheese, Green Chilli Capsicum & Onion stuffed in Wonton sheets served with Beetroot Ketchup; Reddy’s Popcorn Chicken – Crispy Chicken, Coconut Shavings, Curry Leaves, Black Pepper & Lemon; Mobar Ribs – Pan Caramelized BBQ Spare Ribs and Bandel & Malai Fish – White Fish in a Bandel Cheese & Kasturi Methi Spiked Creamy Yogurt, Served with Mint and Coriander Chutney amongst others.
Adding more for those peckish moments, pick from
our delightfully juicy burgers and super thin pizzas loaded with exciting toppings. The smiling bar churns out some super refreshing cocktails, ultra-chilled beer, a variety of spirits and signature Monkey Bar concoctions including the Mangaa with vodka, aam panna, sweet lime, cumin and salt; Copper Monkey made with whisky, orange juice, passion fruit, mint and bitters. Our heady libations line-up also includes Toast to Calcutta, a delightful combination of Beefeater gin, house-made gondhoraj cordial and basil and Hipster Smash made with vodka, cucumber-elderflower spritz, watermelon and mint.
