The 30 Years’ War did fight amid 1618 and 1648. Its spread was caused by two opposing religious groups: militant Catholicism and violent Calvinism. Aside from the Holy Roman Empire (the region of Germany), other European countries invaded the war to either assist or fought one of the two parties at odds. Due to competing interests, the two religious organizations began fighting over control of various areas in Germany. They also battled for excellence amongst themselves.

The 30 Years war era in Germany appears to have been a tragedy for ordinary Germans, full of misery, mass murders, torture, and property devastation. First, a Catholic leader was selected as king, but those affiliated with Calvinism or Protestantism objected to the appointment. As a result, they established a dissident organization with its army to oppose and fight back against this move. They were unsuccessful, prompting them to seek assistance from other European countries. They decided to go to Spain. However, because France was an adversary of Spain, the Catholics sought intervention and help from France.

The conflict was divided into many phases, with the Catholics winning virtually all of them, converting Germany into a Catholic zone, and driving out the Protestants. Later, the wider England community interfered, and the war ended with the achievement of religious freedom. Every German citizen was now free to choose their faith. We may conclude from Grimmelshausen’s text that Germany’s 30 Years war era was a pure nightmare to the German people. In his document titled The Face of Conflict in the Seventeenth Century, he portrays the events during the war as cruel.

Many females were abused by troops fighting in the civil war, and virtually all of the farm peasants’ property was destroyed. He claims that regular people bore the brunt of the war’s toll. He used the example of his family members who he watched being tortured to illustrate his point. In his words, he explains how his dad was afflicted. He also remembers hearing his mother and sister cry in agony. This exemplifies the level of inhumanity and torture endured by regular agricultural peasants throughout the civil war. This allows us to reconstruct the scenario in Germany over thirty years.

Children and women were most likely among those who suffered the most. This paper clearly shows that many individuals were slain and tortured throughout the war period. During the wars, ordinary Germans were subjected to a great deal of grief and suffering. It is also apparent that killings were carried out in the direction of religious leaders who were at odds throughout the conflict.
