Nagraj Popatrao manjule is an Indian film director screenwriter and filmmaker. He is very well known for his best film dairat. He comes up with various social films like pistulya, fandry, baji, highway, the silence, pavsacha nibandh, naal , jhund. Which brings social awareness in the society . As he belongs to the Dravidian community of lower caste he is extremely inspired by Dr BR Ambedkar. He grew up in jeur village of solapur . he earned MA degree in Marathi literature from the university of pune. 

Nagraj’s films are deeply rooted in his own experience growing up as a dalit in rural Maharashtra.

His films have focused on the plights faced by members of these communities, including social discrimination at the hands of high-caste communities as well as the resulting economic hardships.

His first National Award-winning short film Pistulya is a reflection of his ‘felt experience. The film focuses on the desire of a dalit boy to attend school, and his inability to do so because of his family’s poverty and a deep seated disdain for formal education within his community.

His debut feature film, Fandry, was released in February 2014; the word means “pig” in the Kaikadi language. The film focuses on the hardships faced by a Kaikadi family living in poverty on the outskirts of a village whose social and economic structure is dominated by members of savarna communities. Fandry garnered critical acclaim.he appeared in kaun banega crorepati.
Through his films he tries to highlight the issues in the Indian society like discrimination on the basis of caste class , inter caste marriage.he is a talented director who made 5 crores from the movie sairat.by promoting new actors the highlighting the serious issue taking place in the society.
