Gandhinagar Capital Railway Station: The Indian Railways is preparing to open Gujarat’s world-class Gandhinagar Capital Railway Station. PM Modi will inaugurate on July 16, 2021.
The newly rebuilt train station is one of a kind, and it is the country’s first such station to give travelers an airport-like experience. The station has been upgraded and modernized at the cost of Rs 71 crore. The Gandhinagar Capital Railway Station now offers world-class amenities comparable to major airports.
According to the Railway Ministry, the Gandhinagar station’s state-of-the-art external facade would have daily theme-based illumination with 32 distinct themes. In addition, the railway station will have a five-star hotel.
The Gandhinagar Capital Railway Station’s green and attractively built building has been awarded a five-star rating by GEM. Interestingly, a station’s roof has been covered with seamless aluminum sheeting over all platforms and train tracks for the first time on the Indian Railways network. The rebuilt station has been transformed into a Divyang-friendly train station, with a unique low-height tickets booking window, lifts, ramps, a designated parking area, and other amenities.
The station features a separate entrance and exit gates. There is also plenty of parking for two-wheelers, four-wheelers, and auto-rickshaws. Modern conveniences such as theme-based lighting, an interfaith prayer hall, and a separate infant nursing area will be available at the rebuilt railway station. In addition, three stations will be connected adequately by two subways. The station features a specialized art gallery with a live LED Wall display lounge.
There is also a double-height entry foyer with a large ticketing facility. The newly renovated Gandhinagar Capital Railway Station also has a spacious waiting room and a centralized multi-purpose waiting lounge.
PM Modi will also inaugurate two new railway services, the Gandhinagar Capital-Varanasi Superfast Express train and the MEMU service train between Gandhinagar Capital and Vaartha, in addition to the world-class station.
