The White House is pushing for voting rights in the face of mounting dissatisfaction.

The White House Biden and his staff have praised ongoing legal initiatives and vowed a big legislative push on voting rights.

In The White House response to a plea to “defend American democracy,” the Biden administration has announced additional initiatives to safeguard voting rights.

On Thursday, President Joe Biden from The White House met with civil rights activists in the West Wing. At the very time, Vice President Kamala Harris said that the Democratic National Committee would spend $25 million to assist efforts to safeguard voting access ahead of the 2022 midterm elections.

After Senate Republicans defeated a broad election reform measure last month, Biden and his staff have praised ongoing legal initiatives and vowed a big legislative push on voting rights.

So yet, no major speech or trip has been scheduled, causing growing dissatisfaction among his party members. They see the GOP’s attack on voting rights as an existential danger to both Democrats and democracy.

After a Supreme Court ruling limiting minorities’ ability to challenge state legislation that Democrats claim is discriminatory under the Voting Rights Act, the pressure has only increased. As he stood alongside the Rev. Al Sharpton and other civil rights leaders following the conference, Marc Morial, the chairman of the National Urban League, stated, “We will not leave any stone unturned to defend American democracy.”

The White House ” This is an attack on a basic value that this country is built on. When we look at what’s going on in our country, we see an attempt to establish an American apartheid system.”

Biden and Harris told the civil rights leader to press Congress to enact voting rights legislation at the meeting.

According to two White House sources who spoke on the condition of anonymity after Harris’ address on Thursday, aides were contemplating a Biden speech as soon as next week. Several states have imposed voting restrictions, while others are considering them.

Democrats are concerned that the new restrictions would reduce voter turnout in next year’s midterm elections when they are fighting to maintain a razor-thin majority in both chambers of Congress.
