Commonwealth of Independent States of 2021

Commonwealth, also known as Commonwealth of Nations, formerly (1931–49) British Commonwealth of Nations, a free association of sovereign states consisting of the United Kingdom and a number of its former dependencies that have chosen to maintain friendship and practical cooperation and who recognize the British monarch as the symbolic head of their association.

The Commonwealth Secretariat was founded in London in 1965 to manage and coordinate operations. The games was historically an evolutionary extension of the British Empire.

The traditional British policy of allowing effective self-government in its colonies resulted in the nineteenth century of several dependent states populated largely by Europeans accustomed to forms of parliamentary rule and possessing large sovereignty measures. By 1931, the Statute of Westminster, which expressly mentioned a “British Commonwealth of Nations,” had acknowledged them as having unique status inside the empire.

The fast rise of nationalism in other areas of the empire beginning in the 1920s resulted in a long sequence of independence grants, starting with India’s in 1947, and necessitated a redefining of the Commonwealth. India and Pakistan were the first non-European countries to join the in 1947. Burma (Myanmar) declared independence in 1948 and declined participation.

Other problems plagued, with several members deciding to leave the organization, such as Ireland (1949), South Africa (1961), and Pakistan (1972). However, both South Africa and Pakistan ultimately returned.
. As former dependents gained independence, Commonwealth membership increased significantly in the second half of the twentieth century.
The majority of the dependent governments given freedom selected membership, and the organization has expanded to include Mozambique (joined in 1995). The first country allowed entrance that was never part of the British Empire or under the jurisdiction of any member.
